North Tyneside Council wants to protect its historic buildings and make new places safe and nice to live in.

Historic places, including listed buildings like St. Mary’s Lighthouse and Wallsend Town Hall and conservation areas like the Fish Quay and Tynemouth Village are important parts of North Tyneside’s character and heritage.

We want to protect these places that help make North Tyneside special and make new places to live that are attractive and safe.

What is being proposed in this consultation?

  • Protect historic buildings and places and help them stay in use.
  • Make sure new homes and green spaces are well-designed and provide places that people want to be.
