North Tyneside Council is dedicated to providing fair and consistent travel support for adults receiving social care, ensuring they can actively participate in their communities. We are currently revising our guidance on our travel support and we want your views.
Transport assistance is when the council helps you get to places.
The council can help you get to:
Day centres
Respite care
Places to work or learn
Leisure services
The council might pay for a taxi, minibus, or volunteer driver to take you to places.
You must be over 18 and assessed as needing social care services to get transport assistance.
With our new policy, we aim to provide a consistent and fair approach to assessing and meeting travel needs, empowering people to participate in community life through suitable travel support. You can find our old policy here and the draft of the proposed new policy here.
You can let us know what you think of by filling in the survey below. We welcome comments from everyone - whether you are a social care user, carer or resident.
