Our North Tyneside Together event diary showcases events focusing on cultural diversity and cultural engagement from across the council and local partners like Walking With. See below for exciting events coming up!

  • Monday 9 June onwards: Asylum: A Long and Painful Journey exhibition

    Come to Wallsend Community Hub to see a photo exhibition showcasing real experiences of refugees and asylum seekers, with pictures taken by an asylum seeker. This exhibition was first shown at the Baltic Gateshead.

    Every day, Wallsend Community Hub, 9 June onwards.

  • Monday 16 to Sunday 22 of June: Refugee Week at Walking With

    Walking With in Wallsend are running a range of activities to celebrate Refugee Week, including a community football match. Find out more on their Facebook page!

  • Monday 16 June: Human Library

    A human library is a library of people, a space where individuals who might never speak to each other can find common ground for thought-provoking conversations. Drop in and listen to personal stories, ask questions and connect with your community. Alongside the discussion, try some delicious food samples and discover new flavours.

    Monday 16 June 10.30am to 12:30pm at Wallsend Community Hub and Library.

  • Friday 11 July: Schools of Sanctuary Celebration

    Come and help us celebrate the amazing work going on in our schools around welcome, seeking sanctuary and refugees. Schools will display the work they've done this year to raise awareness of the issues around asylum seeking and to make their schools more welcome. Successful schools will also receive their Schools of Sanctuary Awards.

  • Thursday 7 August: South Asian History Month Talk

    Join us on a journey through sacred lands; listen to author Prabhu Sharma talking about travel with passion and knowledge.

    Join us at Northumberland Square on 13 September to celebrate cultures and diversity with performances, stalls and activities for the whole family!
