The Local Offer provides information for children and young people (from birth to 25 years) with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) and their families.

The Local Offer brings together information in one place so parents, carers and young people can see the range of services and support available in their local area and understand how to access them.

    See below for changes that have been made recently as a result of your feedback.



    You Said: The information on Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP’s) was outdated.
    We Did: Updated the ARP’s information to ensure it was current.


    You Said: Support services should be categorized for better clarity (local and national).
    We Did: Support services have been reworked to include clear sections based on the feedback.


    You Said: Searching for information within the SEND Local Offer is difficult, and results pull up outdated content.
    We Did: Requested a search function limited to the SEND Local Offer webpages for the new website to improve search accuracy (this should be available from April 2025).


    You Said: The resource library was hard to use and outdated.
    We Did: Removed outdated information from resource library and integrated documents where possible directly into relevant sections.


    You Said: Information about home education was missing from the SEND Local Offer.
    We Did: Added a link to the North Tyneside Council Home Education page.


    You Said: The Local Offer homepage was difficult to navigate.
    We Did: Held a session with parents and the website manager to discuss how this information could be clearer. Redesigned the homepage into a grid format to make navigation easier. This will appear when the new NTC website is launched April 2025.


    You Said: It was unclear how to file a complaint about education, social care, or health services.
    We Did: Added a dedicated section for complaints and compliments with links to the relevant services.


    You Said: Advertise opportunities for young people 16-25 to have a say through colleges.
    We Did: Attend college events to promote and support young people to sign up to Your North Tyneside Voice


    You Said: Parents reported confusion and stress after receiving a diagnosis, not knowing where to turn next.
    We Did: Redeveloped the SEND Local Offer post card with parents and shared with Health, Education and other outside organisations. The post card includes QR codes to the Local Offer webpages and email to request signposting.


    You Said: Dyslexia assessment information was unclear.
    We Did: Reviewed and updated information with input from the Dyslexia Team.


    You Said: Finding information on leisure activities for children with SEND was challenging.
    We Did: Worked with leisure centres to promote SEND-specific sessions and created a weekly activity list for holidays on the SEND Local offer Facebook page.


    You Said: Information on who to contact if you are concerned about your child (under 5) health or development .
    We Did: Updated section Support for children 0-5, to include who to contact. The Child Alert and Early Years hotline.


    You Said: Broken links should be easier to report.
    We Did: Requested that new webpages include a feature for users to easily report broken links.
