Which tenants are on the panel?

We currently have four tenant members:

Sav: I live in North Shields and I've been a tenant of North Tyneside Council for eight years.  I joined the Landlord Panel as I felt disabled tenants weren't being listened to when it came to their needs.  I hope to change that.

Linda: I’m retired and live in Shiremoor. I’ve been a tenant for 15 years in total; 14 living in North Shields and the last year living in Shiremoor. I joined the Landlord Panel because I believe I have the skills, knowledge and experience needed to speak on behalf of tenants about housing services.  I have lived in both private and housing association properties in the UK and other countries; have a lot of experience of working closely within communities and know first-hand what tenants have to go through in many different areas. I hope to bring a strong voice to the Panel and work towards changing the way that we are often seen as "just council tenants" to that of individuals and families with many different needs but also with many skills and talents.

Kim: I’ve been a tenant for nearly three years and live in Longbenton. I got involved with the Panel to be able help with reviews of things and to help give tenants more of a voice with ideas, as well as be able to say if something’s wrong or unfair towards tenants as a whole. I enjoy helping others after having had issues with housing in the past (not North Tyneside Council) and working voluntarily with a homeless charity for young people, it's kinda something that interests me.

Trish:  I’ve been a tenant for four-and-a-half years and live in North Shields.  I joined the Panel to have a better understanding of how social housing works and its impact on the community.  I also want to feel more informed.

Which councillors are on the panel?

Councillor John Harrison, Cabinet Member responsible for Housing and Councillor Sandra Graham, Cabinet Member responsible for Climate Emergency.  Both councillors also sit on North Tyneside Council's Cabinet.

How do I join the panel?
