Youth Council

Who are they?

The Youth council are a group of 11-18 year olds, or up to 25 for those with special educational needs, who work on local, regional and national projects. They represent the young people of North Tyneside and anyone is able to join.

What do they do?

  • An activity in which they give their opinion on topics such as mental health, the environment, transport or democracy
  • Have visitors from teams within the council or sometimes the NHS, charities and voluntary groups
  • Debating - splitting into two groups and debating agreed topics that are submitted by Youth Council Members
  • Working on their own projects/ideas that they feel passionate about

Other opportunities such as taking part in community days such as North Tyneside Together Festival or attending events where the group promote their work and achievements.
