Tenants' Annual Report 2025-26

Welcome to our 2025-26 annual report – our review of the past year and a look ahead to what’s coming next.

The report is attached as a pdf to this page, or you can read a text-only version on the council website.

Having listened to what you told us about the importance of clean and safe neighbourhoods, we have put a major focus on that this year. You might have taken part in consultation on our new Neighbourhood and Community Promise, or have seen the new ‘Your Neighbourhod’ team out and about responding to issues and cleaning up hotspot areas.

This year, the North Tyneside Council website had a major facelift, making it easier to find information and to report issues. We publish regular updates on how we are performing, which are available for anyone to read, along with our annual self-assessment of how we are meeting the national Regulator of Social Housing’s Consumer Standards.

We are pleased to see that our Tenant Satisfaction scores continue to improve, and our housing teams have worked hard to provide quality homes and good services to tenants. We are committed to building on this, using our self-assessment, data from complaints and insights from tenant feedback to identify actions for the coming year.

Our tenant panel volunteers continue to hold us to account, asking questions and putting forward their own ideas on how we can improve services for all our tenants. You don’t have to be a member of a formal group to have your say – 992 tenants returned our Tenant Satisfaction Measures survey in the autumn and 532 responses were received on consultations ranging from new kitchen choices to a policy on providing home adaptations to support tenants to live independently. Thank you to everyone who shared their views in one way or another.

We will continue to listen to our tenants and invest in services that reflect your priorities.

You can read about:

  • Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSMs) annual survey results
  • Our income and how we spend your rent
  • Our repairs service and investment in your homes to ensure they are well maintained
  • Services to support our tenants
  • Work to keep our neighbourhoods safe and clean
  • Complaints and enquiries figures and how we are using these to improve
  • Our priorities for 2026-27
  • How you can have your say and get involved

If you have any questions about the annual report, or would like to request a paper copy, please email engagement@northtyneside.gov.uk(External link)(External link) or call us on 0191 643 2828. Paper copies will be available from mid-August at the Have Your Say tables at the council's Community Hubs and Libraries, at our North Tyneside Living sites and at in-person tenant activities.
