Tenancy Agreement Consultation 2026

North Tyneside Council aims to maintain a friendly, well cared for, and safe community and the tenancy agreement plays an important role in achieving this goal. The tenancy agreement explains the rights and responsibilities of tenants and those of North Tyneside Council, as the landlord. We have reviewed the agreement to make sure it is up to date, clear, and reflects current legislation and how we deliver our services. We would like to gather your views on the proposed changes and appreciate all feedback received.

We want to be completely open and transparent about the proposed changes to the tenancy agreement. To make these proposed changes easy to understand, we have included three key documents on the right-hand side of this page (or directly below if you are using a mobile phone), for you to feedback. These are:

  • The Proposed Tenancy Agreement: A full copy of the proposed agreement.
  • The Summary of Changes: A quick summary of the main updates.
  • Tenancy Agreement Changes Table: A detailed table breaking down every change throughout the agreement.

We have provided these documents in two different formats to ensure it is easy to understand for everyone.

Please note that all responses will be dealt with in accordance with our privacy notice which can be found here https://www.northtyneside.gov.uk/data-protection-and-privacy/privacy-statements

If you have any questions or need us to do anything differently (reasonable adjustments) to help you take part in this survey, including providing this information in another language or format, please contact housing@northtyneside.gov.uk or telephone: 0345 200 0101.
