Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) 2025 to 2028
Consultation : North Tyneside Draft Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2025-2028
North Tyneside’s Health and Wellbeing Board would like to hear your views on North Tyneside’s draft Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2025-2028 (PNA). The PNA is a statutory report that reviews the current provision of pharmacies and pharmaceutical services across the borough and assesses whether these services are sufficient to meet the health needs of the local population.
The PNA is updated every three years and is used by NHS leaders and other healthcare commissioners to inform decisions about:
Applications to open new pharmacies or relocate existing ones
The commissioning of new or enhanced services through community pharmacies
Strategic planning to ensure equitable access to pharmaceutical services
Who is this consultation for?
The consultation is open to any individual who wishes to comment. It is primarily aimed at:
Organisations involved in the commissioning, delivery, or oversight of pharmaceutical services
NHS bodies such as NHS England and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs)
Health and social care professionals
Patient groups and community and voluntary sector groups with an interest in pharmaceutical services provision
Members of the public were consulted via a survey as part of the development of the PNA “Tell us about your views on pharmacy services in North Tyneside” . Insights from this engagement are included in the PNA document and the full report can be found here and on this webpage
The draft PNA must undergo a 60-day statutory consultation, the main aims of this are:
To encourage constructive feedback from a variety of stakeholders
To ensure a wide range of professionals provide opinions and views on what is contained within the PNA and to ensure it is accurate
Your feedback will help us to know whether our assessment is correct and help to inform any changes that may need to be made to the document. If you would like to give feedback, please complete this short anonymous survey below.
