Palmersville Metro - Connected Stations


This scheme addresses a key missing link in North Tyneside's active travel network along Great Lime Road.

The proposals will deliver:

  • A segregated cycling and walking provision on Great Lime Road between Forest Gate and Whitley Road.

  • New controlled crossings outside Palmersville Metro Station and Miller Close.

  • A reduction in carriageway width and road resurfacing along scheme extents.

  • Bus stop improvements.

This scheme will make journeys to the Metro safer, more convenient and more accessible for people of all ages and abilities.

It will also support planned growth in the area by ensuring new residents have access to sustainable travel options.

Enhancing access to Palmersville Metro Station supports the wider regional ambition of creating an integrated transport system, where active travel and public transport work together to provide practical alternatives for everyday journeys.
