Our North Tyneside Voice (ONTV) is an easy way for residents to engage with North Tyneside Council, to share ideas and influence decisions on a wide range of topics.
The original launch of Our North Tyneside Voice in May 2023 resulted in a huge increase in interest from residents wanting to engage with the Council, growing from the 163 members of our previous ‘residents panel’ to 866 ONTV members by March 2024.
Since the launch, we have had events, focus groups, consultations and sent out five copies of our engagement-focused newsletter, ‘Have Your Say’.
In the last financial year, from Aril 2023 to March 2024, residents have been involved in helping us complete 23 consultations. These were posted on North Tyneside Council’s website. Paper copies were available at our 4 Customer First Centres at Wallsend, North Shields, Whitley Bay and Killingworth; along with the John Willie Sams Centre in Dudley and the Oxford Centre in Longbenton. Some consultations were also discussed at events and focus groups.
What is interesting, looking back, is the range of subjects residents have given their views on, such as public order, democracy, regeneration, budgets and transport, as well as policy and strategy reviews. Some consultations have been specific, others broad and some have been hosted on behalf of our partners if they cover topics that will impact residents in North Tyneside.
