On the13th March 2026 North Tyneside Council announced our newly elected Young Mayor, Malcolm, Jackson and our Member of Youth Parliament, Hugo Ni. This was following an election that took place across the borough, where young people aged 11-18 cast votes in schools, youth provisions and customer first centres.
Malcolm and Hugo will now work towards their pledges for the next year, consulting with young people and Youth Council for their ideas, views and opinions.
The Youth elections ran from March 4th-6th in which 5,071 votes were cast in the Young Mayor ballot and 4,762 votes were cast in the Member of Youth Parliament ballot. Malcolm received 1,852 votes and Hugo received 1916 votes! All candidates worked extremely hard on their pledges and campaigns, to bring ensure young people's voices are heard, but Malcolm and Hugo's pledge's received the most votes.
