New AI powered CCTV

During last summer’s Big Community Conversation – and across many other consultations – residents told us that feeling safe in their neighbourhoods is very important to them, and some shared concerns about crime and visibility of safety measures such as CCTV.

We want to reassure residents that North Tyneside is one of the safest boroughs in the region and that overall crime rates remain low. However, we know that people’s perceptions of safety matter just as much. That’s why, in response to this feedback, the council has invested in new, modern CCTV technology to help keep communities safe and support quicker, more effective responses when incidents do happen.

This investment reflects what residents have told us and shows how their feedback continues to shape practical actions to protect our communities and maintain North Tyneside as a safe place to live.
