The A19 is a strategic route in the North East of England, connecting Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland and Teesside. It forms part of the strategic road network, carrying a high volume of commuter, freight and regional traffic and supporting access to employment, services and businesses across the region.
The A19 Moor Farm junction, located to the north of Newcastle upon Tyne, experiences significant congestion during peak travel periods.
Our proposed improvements aim to reduce congestion, improve journey time reliability, enhance safety and support economic growth in the region. They also provide an opportunity to improve conditions for people walking and cycling. At present, there are footways and pedestrian crossings, with many of these footways being narrow.
