Summary: 
  • In total 17 responses were received to this consultation from a mix of residents, local businesses and agencies. 
  • The majority of responses focused on the harms attributed to gambling
  • It was noted that the control of numbers of licensed gambling premises are controlled by the planning system and control of numbers was not in the scope of this policy. 
  • The report did include a 'no casino resolution' however and no response was received against the passing of a further ‘no casino resolution'.
The report was passed by Council Cabinet and referred to Full Council on 22 November 2024 where it was passed along with the no casino resolution by 52votes.


Legal guidelines require us to consult on our gambling policy every 3 years. Give your views. This time we haven't made any changes to the the policy except to organisations names and document names. In reality the Statement of Licensing (Gambling) Policy is remaining the same.

However, as a listening council, we would welcome any comments you wish to make about the policy.

Please note that the Authority is not permitted to ban high level gaming machines and nor are we permitted to cover any aspect of on-line gaming within the policy.
