Preparation of a new Local Plan is an opportunity for residents, local business and wider stakeholders to have your say on the future growth and development of North Tyneside.
Local Plans must follow the legal requirements and national policies set out by government. They must also be informed by the right evidence and have regard to the wider priorities of North Tyneside Council, the ambitions of the North East Combined Authority and address cross boundary issues with neighbouring Local Authorities.
Within the consultation the Initial Draft Local Plan consultation document is made available in a number of topic based sections.
Local Plan Sustainability Appraisal
Sustainability Appraisal is an important part of ensuring the Local Plan proposals deliver positive outcomes for the social, environmental and economic wellbeing of the Borough. It is a lawful requirement to undertake Sustainability Appraisal as part of the preparation of a Local Plan.
Evidence base and Monitoring
The Local Plan must be based on proportionate and robust evidence, across each of the issues its seeks to address. The evidence base to inform the Local Plan is being continually developed with a number of studies underway and recently completed. Evidence base documents are available via the Council's website:
