Meet our neighbourhoods team
Every area has its own designated neighbourhood housing officer, who you can contact at any time. If you are unsure who your neighbourhood officer is, check the attached spreadsheet. To find your street quickly, use the 'find' tool and type in your street name. If you need a hand, please email us at neighbourhoodhousing@northtyneside.gov.uk or call 0191 643 6384, 0191 643 6382 or 0191 643 6385.
Come along and chat with your local Neighbourhood Housing Officer at a venue near you, no appointment needed:
Battle Hill Library: Every Thursday, 11am-1pm
John Willie Sams Centre in Dudley: Every Monday, 10am-12pm
The Oxford Centre in Longbenton: Every Monday, 9am-1pm
The White Swan Centre in Killingworth: Every Monday, 10am-12pm
Tenancy home visits
Neighbourhood housing officers also make home visits to help us get to know our tenants better, check the overall condition of the property and see if there are any outstanding issues or repairs. These visits are invaluable in finding out if anyone in the household needs any additional support, which we can help arrange. For example, with health needs, financial concerns, employment and training, or safety at home. Tenants will receive a letter in advance with an appointment time. If it's not convenient for you, please call us to rearrange it using the phone number on your letter.
Estate walkabouts
Your neighbourhood housing officer carries out regular estate walkabouts in your neighbourhood. These are an opportunity for you to ask questions, report any issues and get involved in helping to improve your estate. We want to make sure that the local area looks appealing, is functioning well and that any problems are put right.
Our walkabouts programme for 2025-26 is attached to this page. You can view walkabouts in your area, along with contact details for your housing officer. If you have any difficulty viewing the programme, or have any questions, please contact us using the email address or phone numbers above.
It is important for us to have strong relationships between our tenants and neighbourhood housing officers, and we'd like to encourage tenants to come along and have a chat to the team when they are in your neighbourhood.
The planned walkabouts take into consideration council homes within certain areas and we have officers assigned to those areas. We will still be carrying out unscheduled street inspections if your street is a council managed estate but is not listed in the schedule. (Please note - our programme does not cover walkabouts on private housing estates as our team is responsible for council tenancies). To report environmental or housing issues at any time, visit the North Tyneside Council website or call 0345 2000 101.
