Every area has its own designated neighbourhood housing officer, who you can contact at any time. If you are unsure who your neighbourhood officer is, check the attached spreadsheet. To find your street quickly, use the 'find' tool and type in your street name. If you need a hand, please email us at neighbourhoodhousing@northtyneside.gov.uk(External link) or call 0191 643 6384, 0191 643 6382 or 0191 643 6385.
Your neighbourhood housing officer carries out regular estate walkabouts in your neighbourhood. These are an opportunity for you to ask questions, report any issues and get involved in helping to improve your estate. We want to make sure that the local area looks appealing, is functioning well and that any problems are put right.
Our walkabouts programme for 2025-26 is attached to this page. You can view walkabouts in your area, along with contact details for your housing officer. If you have any difficulty viewing the programme, or have any questions, please contact us using the email address or phone numbers above.(External link)
It is important for us to have strong relationships between our tenants and neighbourhood housing officers, and we'd like to encourage tenants to come along and have a chat to the team when they are in your neighbourhood.
The planned walkabouts take into consideration council homes within certain areas and we have officers assigned to those areas. We will still be carrying out unscheduled street inspections if your street is a council managed estate but is not listed in the schedule. (Please note - our programme does not cover walkabouts on private housing estates as our team is responsible for council tenancies). To report environmental or housing issues at any time, visit the North Tyneside Council website(External link) or call 0345 2000 101.
