Equality and Diversity Policy Reviewed

Thank you to everyone who took part in ensuring this policy is the best it can be.

The Council Cabinet was informed that Consultation on the Policy ran from 10 December 2024 until 4 February 2025. The following external groups were asked to participate in the consultation exercise: AgeUK, Youth Council, Church of England, Catholic Church, North East Sikh Service, Ethnic Diversity Taskforce (which includes Black, Farsi, Muslim and Jewish community representatives, Show Racism the Red Card, Department for Work and Pensions, North Tyneside VODA, trades unions, health services, fire and rescue, police and Nexus), Deaflink, Becoming Visible, Deaf Awareness North East, North Tyneside Disability Forum, Learning Disability North East, North Tyneside Women’s Voices, Barnardo’s, Pearey House, YMCA, Walking With, Justice Prince, New Prospects, North Tyneside Carers Centre, North East Equality Officers’ Network and NTSP Equality Group, Our North Tyneside Voice Members and local people. Within the Authority was undertaken with the Authority’s five staff networks, Corporate Equality Group, trades unions and employees who were all invited to share their views.
