Council Tax Support Review

Overall those people that took part in the consultation agreed with the councils proposals to change the way Council Tax Support is applied.

Cabinet agreed with the proposals for the following reasons:

The proposed Council Tax Reduction Banded Scheme:

• was favoured by the majority (58%) of people who answered the banded scheme question and agreed that the Authority should adopt the banded CTS Scheme

• would give the most financially vulnerable claimants 100% support, so they have nothing to pay • provides a simpler Scheme for customers to understand

• will create fewer changes in entitlement, and therefore fewer revised bills issued during the year, creating savings through postage/paper and printing, and

• is easier to administer that will allow the Authority to make administrative savings over time.
