During autumn 2025, we asked for the views of residents in communal blocks managed by North Tyneside Council to share their views on a proposal to trial communal area cleaning.
Residents are currently responsible for cleaning communal areas themselves, as outlined in the Tenancy Agreement, however we have had requests for the council to provide a cleaning service and were keen to explore this option further with residents.
All residents in communal blocks received a letter about the consultation and an invitation to take part in our survey.
Thank you to everyone who completed the survey, results showed that residents were in favour of a cleaning service trial. We are now making arrangements to run the cleaning trial at several blocks and residents living in those blocks will be contacted directly about it.
We expect the cleaning service to begin in those blocks shortly and run up until the end of March 2027. We will then ask the residents there for their views on its effectiveness, as part of our overall evaluation of the trial. If you have any queries in the meantime, please contact us on 0345 2000 102.
