Children in Care Council

Who are they?

The Children in Care Council (CiCC) is made up of children and young people who are all care experienced or looked after by North Tyneside Council.

Currently, we have groups for children aged 11 (from YR7 onwards) and above, as well as for care leavers who are involved with the Regional Children in Care Council. This ensures that all care-experienced young people have a space to voice their opinions and make a difference.

What do they do?

The group meets regularly to get involved in various projects to make important changes to the lives of children and young people who are care experienced. It is also an opportunity to make friends, build confidence and ensure their voices are being heard by professionals and senior leaders.

The focus of the group is to allow children young people to influence policies, strategies and decisions that affect cared for young people. The views of the group are shared on a regular basis with Children's Services and Elected Members across North Tyneside Council.

How do I get involved?

If you are a young people, currently in care or with care experience or know someone who would like to be involved, please email ChildreninCareCouncil@northtyneside.gov.uk.
