Consultation has concluded

Consultation date: 11 August to 3 October 2025
Number of Responses:
0 people completed the survey
48 people looked at the information
199 visited the project and were aware of it

The information is being evaluated and will be used to form the basis of the second part of the consultation which will start in December

The vision issues and options consultation currently underway does not include proposals for development.

The next stage of consultation on the Local Plan will need to identify preferred options for the use of land across North Tyneside that can provide the homes, jobs, shops, green spaces and facilities that we need to 2042.

This will mean the next Local Plan consultation will consult on the sites for development that the Council considers are the most sustainable and have a realistic chance of being delivered to meet the Borough's development needs.

The Call for Sites

To select the most appropriate sites it is important that all potential sites are identified and fully assessed. This maximises the potential for allocating the most suitable and sustainable sites in the final Local Plan.

To support this, the Council is inviting anyone with knowledge of North Tyneside; including residents, businesses, landowners and developers to propose locations they believe should be assessed for inclusion in the Local Plan.

The Council is interested in hearing from you if you have any ideas or information about potential locations for a range of uses, including:

  • Housing - including affordable and specialist housing types
  • Officers, factories and other industrial buildings
  • Shops, retail and leisure
  • Local Green Space

Please note at this stage no decisions have been taken about where development may take place.

The Council is collating all available evidence and will assess every site in accordance with

  1. Government guidance
  2. Existing local evidence and assessment method (link to North Tyneside Council's website)
  3. Site Assessment Methodology 2025 (microsoft word doc.) / (pdf version)

The findings of the land availability assessment and site selection will be published as evidence with the next stage of the Local Plan.
