The Best Start in Life Conference was held on Tuesday 12th May 2026, with partners from across the North East, Cumberland, Northumberland, Westmoreland and Furness and North Yorkshire. The aim of the day was to showcase current work, success and collaboration to ensure young people receive a great start in life.
Who took part?
The Regional Children in Care Council attended the event and delivered a presentation focusing on language and stigma in the health sector. Language and stigma was one of five priorities that the Regional Children Care Council chose to focus on, with the four other priorities being:
Homelessness and housing
Education, employment and training
Mental health and wellbeing
Life skills
