Timetable of admissions arrangements for pupils where a North Tyneside Education Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) is in process and:
they are in Year 8; or,
they are in any year attending Monkseaton High School.
Current Year Group
All Year 8 pupils with a North Tyneside EHCNA in process
Arrangements:
Where an EHCNA has resulted in a decision not to issue an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) before 3 March 2025 (national offer day), the Authority will inform the parent/carer of their child’s Year 9 school place on 3 March 2025.
Where an EHCNA results in a finalised EHCP before 15 February 2025, the Authority will issue an EHCP naming the school that the pupil will attend for the duration of Year 8 and the school they will attend in Year 9.
Where an EHCNA results in a finalised EHCP after 15 February 2025, but before 3 March 2025 (national offer day), the EHCP will name the school that the pupil will attend for the duration of Year 8 and the school they will attend in Year 9.
Where an EHCNA results in a finalised EHCP after 3 March 2025, the pupil will have been offered a school place on national offer day, however, the new EHCP will supersede this and name the school the pupil will attend for the duration of Year 8 and the school they will attend in Year 9.

Arrangements
Where an EHCNA has resulted in a decision not to issue an EHCP before 31 January 2025 (the Authority’s proposed extraordinary Year 9 offer day), the Authority will inform the parent/carer of their child’s Year 10 school place on 31 January 2025.
Where an EHCNA results in a finalised EHCP before 31 January 2025, that EHCP will name the school that the pupil will attend for the duration of Year 9 and the school they will attend in Year 10.
Where an EHCNA results in a finalised EHCP after 31 January 2025, the child will have been offered a school place on the Authority’s proposed extraordinary Year 9 offer day, however, the new EHCP will supersede this and name the school the pupil will attend for the duration of Year 8 and the school they will attend in Year 9.

Arrangements
Where an EHCNA results in a decision not to issue an EHCP, the pupil will continue to attend Monkseaton High School. If the parent decides that they want their child to attend an alternative school following the decision, they can make this request to the Authority in line with the in-year application process.
Where an EHCNA results in a finalised EHCP, the EHCP will name the school the pupil will attend for the duration of Year 10 and Year 11. The EHCP will remain subject to the annual review processes in accordance with paragraphs 9.166 – 9.176 SEND Code of Practice: 0 to 25 Years (2015).
Where an EHCNA results in a finalised EHCP and it is the parental preference that their child attends a mainstream school, and that the EHCP names Monkseaton High School, the EHCP will be issued for that school, unless there is sufficient evidence, in line with Section 33(3) Children and Families Act 2014, that the pupil’s attendance would be incompatible with the efficient education of others or efficient use of resources at Monkseaton High School. In those circumstances, the pupil would remain on roll at Monkseaton High School whilst the Authority works with parents /carers to identify and name the mainstream school of their choice.
Where an EHCNA results in a finalised EHCP and it is the parental preference that their child attends a school other than Monkseaton High School, the Authority would meet its statutory requirements as set out in paragraphs 9.78 – 9.987 SEND Code of Practice: 0 to 25 Years (2015). During that period and until an EHCP named an alternative school, the pupil would remain on roll at Monkseaton High School.
