North Tyneside Council is updating its policy on activities that are not allowed on Council-owned, controlled and managed land.
The policy aims to discourage activities that could harm the environment, cause a nuisance, create safety issues, or be considered anti-social.
As part of the update, the Council has reviewed and updated some of the policy definitions to make existing restrictions clearer and easier to understand.
The Council is also asking residents, businesses and voluntary organisations for their views on the possible introduction of a Responsible Operator Scheme. The scheme would apply to organised activities that regularly take place on Council-owned land, such as fitness classes, boot camps, football clubs, cycling groups and swimming clubs.
The voluntary scheme would allow organisations to register with North Tyneside Council and provide information such as risk assessments and health and safety arrangements. Organisations that meet the required standards would be recognised by the Council as safe and suitable operators.
A small administration fee may apply. Approved organisations would also be listed on the Visit North Tyneside website so that residents can easily find them.
Please take part in this consultation by completing the survey below by Friday 16 October 2026.
If you have any questions or need support to take part in this survey, including receiving this information in another language, format or accessible version, please contact the Strategic Property Team at: strategic.property@northtyneside.gov.uk or call on 0191 6432142.
